The Interior Lumber Manufacturers’ Association (ILMA) is proud to announce a new name: the Independent Lumber Manufacturers’ Association. The name change reflects our members’ identity as family-owned, community-based mills operating independently from the multinational corporations that dominate much of the B.C. forest industry.
“For over 60 years, our members have been doing more with less—crafting specialized, value-added wood products, supporting rural economies, and sustainably managing our forests,” said Ted Dergousoff, ILMA President. “This new name honors that legacy while sending a clear message about who we are and what we stand for.”
ILMA’s 13 member mills and over 70 associate members generate more than $125 million in annual payroll, providing over 1,800 full-time jobs in the Southern Interior. With a renewed identity, ILMA will continue to advocate for provincial policies that ensure the right log goes to the right mill—maximizing both economic and ecological value for British Columbia.
ILMA is the collective voice of independent and family-owned mills in communities across the southern interior of B.C. We understand our industries’ issues and work together to provide the best wood products and resource management possible.
ILMA needs the support of communities, individuals, and local government to help us create provincial forest policy that puts a real value on getting the right log to the right mill.
